baby took a boat back home

who don’t wanna waste their soul

countin bliss, word and wishes

under the influence

every other night

who cannot afford their time

who could never press rewind

talking cheap, word and wishes

that cannot speak,

baby took a boat back home

—-

(live from new york)

be there when you be there when you need it

run around with you out on the weekends

(live from new york)

—-

just stay on the line

hard to keep u out of my mouth sometimes

heavier weight could throw down those stars

heavier weight, heavier weight

we fell fast asleep

tell me the dreams and take what you need

who could watch it go down like that

steadier now, steadier now

—-

baby don’t hear me now

we should’ve gone downtown

calling it whatever you could want right now

only wanted the most right now

who cannot afford their time

who could never press rewind

talking cheap, word and wishes

that cannot speak,

baby took a boat back home

—-

daydreams in your gut

hard to be on your mind when I’m not

who get’s so close to masterpieces

with rolled up sleeves and sleeping kingdoms

daydreams in the yard

who remembered daydreams after dark

who knew something about you then

but never again, and never again, and never

this song took a while to be released. it started in fall 2017 as a moody chord progression in an entirely different key on an acoustic in my old room in la, almost entirely different lyrics too. i had a blanket thumbtacked over my windows to block the sunlight and a web of blue and purple xmas lights

around january i had a session with cameron cade, we went into his home studio and played each other stuff we’d been working on and clicked instantly. we started skimming over some ideas for tracks, and in looking through my phone i came across some voice memos that said ‘october’ (probably 4 or 5 different versions). it went through a big change and after a few revisions we had something. cameron works quick and with a passion and truly brought this idea to life

then a few months ago i took a 6 hour bus ride to meet and work with erik rojas on a music video for that same song. it took a day to shoot and i don’t even know exactly how many hours he put in post production but definitely a lot. he put in some serious energy to make everything feel just right and it’s my fav video i’ve been able to be a part of yet

extremely grateful and excited to finally have this one out and hope u enjoy
